What 3.6 million Pounds 0f Thrust Looks Like
Two minutes of awesome power followed by a nifty little water hose to put it all out. The largest, most powerful rocket booster ever built was successfully tested at the Promontory, Utah test facility of NASA's commercial partner Orbital ATK yesterday. The major-milestone ground test is in preparation for NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion spacecraft to deep space destinations such as an asteroid and Mars. Watch the booster run for two full minutes, producing about 3.6 million pounds of thrust and then is extinguished with a touch of water.
