The Mars Society is seeking six volunteers, ages 22 to 60, to spend a year in their Mars simulator in northern Canada. Four individuals will be chosen for their skills in areas including geology, geochemistry, microbiology, biochemistry and paleontology and two will be selected with engineering backgrounds.

For 12 months, these earthbound explorers will be stationed at the Flashline Mars Arctic Research Station (FMARS) which is located on Devon Island just 900 miles from the North Pole.

Crew members will conduct experiments relevant to a manned mission to Mars and when exiting the lab they will be required to wear a spacesuit simulator similar that which would need to be worn on the surface of the red planet.

Applicants can be single or married and must pass a physical exam. Interested parties can learn more here, but hurry, the application deadline is November 30, 2013.
