Tour the USS Ranger One Last Time
The USS Ranger, like every carrier before and after her, was a symbol of democracy for decades. Eventually it came time for her to rest and perhaps serve another purpose. On July 10th, 1993 she was decommissioned and mothballed in Bremerton, WA.
On March 5, 2015, the USS Ranger began her journey back out into open sea for a five month trip, under tow, to Brownsville, TX where she will be scrapped. For more on that, check out Kevin Hong's article.
Currently, she rests anchored in the Bay of Panama just off the coast of Panama City.
