"Fly Girls The Forgotten Fliers Of WWII", is a new TV miniseries in development about the first American women to fly for the military during WW2, Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP).

Those behind the development say, "The series will focus on three women who answered their country’s call to serve. We follow them embarking on an experiment, forming the first all-female air force squadron that, within two years would number over a thousand pilots. But instead of being honored as heroes at the war’s end, they are shamed, accused of taking jobs away from men, finally grounded and silenced. Their contribution remaining classified "top secret" by the U.S. Government for over three decades.

Three very different women will forge an unlikely friendship, united only by their passion for flying, and an unspoken sense that the sky is a level playing field. After all, the sky is not a ‘man’s place’ or not a ‘woman’s place’. In the sky, there are only pilots…"

It will be based on the book, ON FINAL APPROACH, FLY GIRLS the true story of the bravery of the Women Airforce Service Pilots, the WASP. Bound by friendship and duty, both to each other, and their Country.

The series will be directed by and was created By Matia Karrell, Academy Award Nominated Director. A Fulbright Scholar, she made her directorial debut with Cadillac Dreams, which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Short Film. She is a native of Boston, Massachusetts.
