The Ageless Howie Keefe and "Miss A"
One of the most popular air racer of the modern era is the P-51 Mustang "Miss America". It's fame can be attributed to it's patriotic paint scheme, but also the Revell and Cox models that kids like me built and in some cases flew! She's a record holder, and air racing champion. She's had her ups and downs, but always attracts attention no matter where she goes.
Recently we stumbled across an interview with her original owner Howie Keefe. The Lakeland Ledger brings us the interview about the his time with the plane and what he did after retirement. Sadly, Howie passed away in 2013 following complications from cancer.
BONUS: We also produced a story with Miss A's current owner Dr. Brent Hisey. Brent raced her to the Silver Unlimited Class victory several times, and currently displays her at the Oklahoma Museum of Flying.
