The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince) has a new big screen treatment. The upcoming English-language French computer-animated film is directed by Mark Osborne. Irena Brignull wrote the script based on the 1943 novel by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. As the first animated feature film adaptation the film uses stop motion animation for the novel's story and computer animation for an additional frame narrative. It stars the voices of Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, Paul Rudd, Marion Cotillard, James Franco, Benicio del Toro, Ricky Gervais, Bud Cort, Paul Giamatti, Albert Brooks and Mackenzie Foy. The world premiere is in May at the Cannes Film Festival in an out of competition screening, followed by a summer release in North America.

The story centers on a fearless and curious child prodigy (Mackenzie Foy) who lives with her equally academically talented yet overachieving mother (Rachel McAdams). After moving into a new neighborhood, the girl meets her next door neighbor "The Aviator" (Jeff Bridges), an old yet eccentric and mischievous man. Soon, she discovers the story of The Little Prince, a story of a pilot who crashes in a desert where he meets the titular boy from a distant planet, a story that brings the girl and the Aviator together on an extraordinary adventure. I can't wait.
