Today, September 26th, is International Girls in Aviation Day!

All across the world, Women in Aviation International chapters organized this event for the sole purpose of getting young women information about the exciting world of aviation! 43 locations in 7 countries around the world will be participating in today’s event. Girls will be able to participate in aviation activities including a Delta chartered Boeing 737 from Minneapolis to Seattle with Delta’s first female pilot, Joy Walker. Every part of the flight from dispatching to catering and the piloting will be conducted by women.

Some states have even declared it Girls in Aviation day in honor of the event. My local WAI chapter is participating and expecting nearly 1000 people in attendance at the St. Paul downtown airport (KSTP) in Minnesota. So come on out and say hi! Captain Julie Clark will be there with her T-34 Mentor “Free Spirit” parked just a few feet away from my not to be upstaged Decathlon.
