Can you blame them? South Korean military contracting officials told Boeing this week that their specs for an F-15SE were not advanced enough to fend off the threats from their neighbors to the North.

Of course, defending the most heavily-militarized border in the world probably requires seriously-advanced stealth capabilities.

The F-15SE 'Silent Eagle' is the proposed upgrade to the F-15E program, and though Boeing submitted the least-expensive bid (at $7.7B) compared to it's competitors Lockheed Martin and EADS, officials said their pitch wouldn't provide enough security against the looming nuclear threat.

Does that mean South Korea is looking at the F-35 instead?
