Trappe Balloon Flight Ends in a Cluster
Balloonist Jonathan Trappe landed well short of his trans-Atlantic cluster balloon flight having sailed from Maine all the way to...Canada. Twelve hours after his launch he landed in Newfoundland after technical difficulties forced him to cut the flight short.
Trappe reported a yo-yo effect with his cluster of 300 helium filled balloons - with altitudes as low as the surface and as high as 21,000 feet. Rather than proceed over the open ocean, he elected to land in the eastern portion of Canada.
No word yet on when he plans his next attempt.
