World Famous Helicopter Pilot Announces Retirement
With a short, simple Instagram post, Chuck "Malibu" Aaron announced his air show retirement saying the upcoming Las Vegas Red Bull Air Race would be his last performance.
Aaron captured the world's attention as one of three pilots in the world and the only American to fly aerobatic maneuvers in a helicopter.
His jaw-dropping display earned him the International Council of Air Show's Art Scholl Showmanship award in 2009 and the Helicopter Pilot of the Year in 2014.
LiveAirShowTV interviewed "Malibu" last year to learn what thrills this crop duster and which celebrity ride along surprised him the most.
You can watch his mind boggling performance in the second video below which was shot at the 2012 Joint Service Open House.
In the third video by ATA's Ric Peterson, Aaron shares it all started with a dream to fly on a magic carpet as a child.
From all of us here at All Things Aero, we want to thank Malibu for inspiring millions to dream big.
