After a challenging few days flying the 14-gate course with gusting and direction-shifting winds, today has seen calm conditions – totally throwing the race lines most pilots had adopted to allow for this. These changing weather conditions caused the relatively straightforward Abu Dhabi racetrack to catch out the majority of the 14-strong Master Class field in the final training session ahead of Qualifying. Pete McLeod of Canada managed to post the fastest time with 57.040, while defending World Champion Nigel Lamb of Great Britain was last in 14th place. Qualifying for the first Red Bull Air Race of the season starts later today in Abu Dhabi.
