Bingo Fuel Airliner Disrupts Blue Angels Practice

Last week you could listen to the frantic pilot as the drama unfolds with only 3 minutes of fuel on board Allegiant Air Flight 426. The FAA requires all aircraft to carry a 45 minute fuel reserve. However in this case Flight 426 did not have that option. With time running out they arrived at a closed airport due to the Blue Angels practicing for the airshow in Fargo, North Dakota.

It was recommended by ATC to fly 70 miles away, but due to the circumstances, the pilot was on Bingo Fuel (phrase often used by military pilots when they only have enough fuel to land the aircraft).
