Tower Controller Makes Joke, Delta Flight Goes Around
A tower controller at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson Airport caused a Delta flight to go around after making a joke.
The Delta pilot can be heard asking the controller for a place to park after landing, since a gate wasn't available, and the controller can be heard saying, "Delta 630, go around."
The controller comes back on the radio a few seconds later saying that he was joking and giving taxi instructions to the approaching flight.
The Delta pilot then says "You sent us around. Delta 630 is on the go."
The tower controller has been suspended pending an investigation.
