On Board ANA Star Wars BB-8 Boeing 777
Last August Tyson Rininger did a story about All Nippon Airlines (ANA) promoting Star Wars: The Force Awakens with three of their wide body jets with special livery schemes of the new droid BB-8 and R2D2. Since July 2015 ANA started their inaugural service flying nonstop from Tokyo to Houston. Recently on an April day I found one of the droids we have been looking for.
With overcast skies in Houston, ANA 789 – BB-8 made an appearance and by the photographers perched on the rooftop of the parking garage word got out quickly about this unique livery coming in. After checking in through security I walked down the jetway with some of the media. You could hear the Star Wars Imperial march coming from the door of the massive Boeing 777.
On board the BB-8 we were able to walk into the cockpit to the economy class where some of the Star Wars decorations were present. In the premium class we got a chance to look at the spacious area and look at a lot of amenities this 5 star airline had to offer to their passengers. As the Star Wars music continued to play throughout the aircraft I strolled into the economy class where every seat had a Star Wars BB-8 cover on them. Keeping up with the Star Wars theme, the flight attendants wear a BB-8 apron, napkins and cups also had the decorative BB-8 theme as well.
I spoke with Jean Saito, manager of the ANA Public Relations and says the other Star Wars planes will have the same theme depending on their paint scheme. I look forward to seeing the other Star Wars droids and visit their cool website ana-sw.com for more details on the Star Wars project and the droid airplanes. Photos by Kevin Hong/Sector K Media, LLC.
