TSA's Midway Meltdown
Lines to clear TSA security have been reported as being over 1 mile long at Chicago's Midway Airport according to KOMO reporter Denise Whitaker, who is stuck in the mess.
Sunday following Thanksgiving is notoriously a busy travel day, but lines are par for the course according to airport spokesperson Karen Pride.
“This happens sometimes,” Chicago Aviation Department rep. Karen Pride told the Chicago Sun-Times. “There was a period of time earlier this morning, between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., that lines were long because that is when most people are traveling for the holiday period.”
As lines stretched outside the airport, passengers reported it took over 75-minutes to clear security.
As passengers miss their flights, the burden of these delay usually falls on the shoulders of the airlines that are forced to accommodate these passengers.
