KLM Withdraws Last MD-11
KLM's last MD-11 finished its final revenue service flight on October 26, ending the era of tri-jet passenger service.
MD-11 "Audrey Hepburn" landed at Schiphol in Amsterdam from Montreal where it was greeted with a water cannon salute.
KLM said in a statement that Flight 672 "not only marks the end of KLM's MD-11 operations worldwide, but also the end of a remarkable era in civil aviation."
KLM's MD-11s will make a series of special flights in the near future over the Netherlands to say goodbye to the iconic aircraft.
The MD-11s in KLM's fleet were named after remarkable women from around the world including Florence Nightingale, Maria Montessori, Marie Curie, and Mother Theresa.
